Dear George,
The ultimate joyride is a nation’s slide into decadence.
Let me clarify that statement. One of the State’s neater sleight of hands is to equate decadence with sex, with libertine excesses like orgies, bestiality, s/m and other deviant practices. A puritanical interpretation of the human crotch distracts the public from that purest expression of decadence: a State that is devoid of anything resembling a moral compass.
Gonzo’s prattling on about the evils of porn is an effective smokescreen that cleverly conceals our national addiction to incarceration, our legitimizing of torture, our suspension of habeas corpus, and the sociopathic ideology you misinterpret as God’s will.
Now you are sinking even deeper into the decadent shit-pit by trying to limit visits by defense attorneys to our Gitmo detainees. Your Justice Department argues that such visits are upsetting for the detainees, as well they are. We want happy detainees spending their days in a state of utopian joy. The lasts thing they need is a gaggle of attorneys disturbing their serenity with talk of justice and the rule of law.
You are also safeguarding our National Security by restricting attorney’s access to the evidence against the detainees. Why muddy the waters by increasing the chances that a detainee might walk should the evidence against him prove to be weak or nonexistent.
Thanks to you, George, America is viewing the dawning of a new age of decadent decency. Who needs a moral compass in the light of this rising sun?
Your admirer,
Belacqua Jones
