Photo Theme... Wheels
from Road Roller to Posh Roller
Here's another "photo theme"... an assemblage of wheel images taken at random whenever I stumbled upon them... none were looked for... they just happened. I like photographing this way... there's no planning and no disappointment... it all depends on chance, where you were at a certain time, which direction you happened to look, what crossed your path at that moment... just like meeting someone and because the feeling being so strong, never ever forgetting them... and yet one minute sooner or later and you would never have known what you had missed forever.
This collection includes cartwheels spotted in Wiltshire, Wales and the Indre-et-Loire département in France... a French ferris wheel at Le Mans and Citroen J-type corrugated tin van near Aberdovey, Wales... a freshly painted road-roller which looked decidedly odd on the oldest road in Europe, the Great Ridgeway, and classic Rolls Royce details seen in London's posher quarters. Basically you can see wheels anywhere and everywhere... and my only advice on capturing them as a photo theme is... you have to have a camera at the time!
My other recent photo themes on these pages include Numbers, Car Number Plates, Wall Textures, Bleu, Blanc et Rouge, Post Boxes and Chairs and Pointing Fingers and Arrows.
I don't categorise, as photo themes, timed events where the camera is in an established position for any period, long or short, because they are fixed beforehand with lens choice (angle of view), framing (I make a drawing and take written notes), timing sequence (planning location and position according to direction and travel of sun)... and once established don[base ']t provide any more searching out. Nevertheless, I enjoy making timed sequences such as... Time of Day (hours), Time of Year (seasons), Wash Time (seconds) and Time passes me by (minutes) whenever I find a subject or location which will, literally, stand the test of time.
