The Tragedy of War
There are so many lost in the tragedy of war and it is the young that are taken in more abundance than the old. Those who they leave behind are left with a lifetime of memories that bring pain to the continuing present moment.
Both sides in war are ally and enemy and both sides are of the same human race. Both sides have feelings, emotions and senses and both sides have fears of what war will bring; and what it brings is the same to both sides, senseless pain, grief and loss.
There is no gain in war there is only tragedy.
This poem, from my book "Blossoms On A Tree" is dedicated to all those who have lost a loved one to any war...
What A Beautiful Baby...
"What a beautiful baby!" the nurse said to me
I looked down at my son and had to agree
And as he grew up, I learnt more and more
Unconditional love for the son I adore.
He was strong and agile and very kind
And then one day he was assigned
To go to war as he chose the Force
And his honor was about to run its course.
He lived for peace, this son of mine
And he went to war for all mankind
For justice and love of the human race
And never again would I see his face.
He died defending what he thought was right
Not that he ever wanted to fight
But war raised up its ugly head
And now my beloved son is dead.
The opposition was not to blame
For they have suffered equal pain
There are mothers who weep the same as I
For the sons who for their country die.
Where is the gain in any war?
Does not life go on as before?
If we win or lose at any cost
Have we really won when our sons are lost?
Our lives are all that we have of worth
This I realized from my son's birth
And everyone feels love the same
And loves are lost to the war game.
So stop these wars and call for peace
For our anger and hatred we must release
And the men in power must hear our plea
That only love gives freedom to humanity.
