MICHELLE OBAMA DID A FANTASIC JOB IN HER SPEECH TO THE DEMOCRATIC CONVENTION
SHE INTRODUCED HERSELF TO THE COUNTRY, ALLOWED THE AUDIENCE IN ON THE SUBSTANCE OF HER LIFE AND HER CHARACTER AND PROVED BEYOND A SHADLOW THAT SHE IS LIKE EVERY OTHER WOMAN, MOTHER, DAUGHTER AND WIFE IN AMERICA!
THANK YOU, MICHELLE, FOR INVITING THE COUNTRY INTO THE INNER CHAMBERS OF YOUR LIFE!
If there is anyone in this country who doubts the patriotism of Michelle Obama after her convention speech tonight (August 25, 2008), they are either deaf or emotionally dead.
She did exactly what she was supposed to do, to let the country know that she and her family are just like every family in the country. While their education is superior to the education that most have, they confront the same problems that others face.
Both Barack and Michelle were reared in relatively poor families. Barack’s father left the mother and Barack at an early age in his life. The single mother apparently could not cope and place him in the custody of his grandparents in Hawaii.
He lived in Africa for a brief time, attended a Catholic school there for a few years and then moved to Hawaii until he grew into his majority.
Michelle was born on the south side of Chicago with a father who for thirty odd years worked in the water treatment facilities of the city. He died at a young age from multiple sclerosis, but in is short life, he made a dramatic impact on the life and thinking of his daughter and son.
The mother did the best she could on her own, and in the end succeeded in raising two very successful adults, Michelle and her brother, Craig Robinson, coach of a college basketball team in the west.
Last evening (August 25, 2008) she gave one of the most impressive speeches any woman has ever delivered before a national convention. She told her story and did it in such a way as to identify with the average man and woman in this country who go through hard times and yet continue to fight the good fight to reach the American dream by getting up every time they are knocked down, place their feet squarely on the path toward their dreams and continue the long and arduous journey.
Michelle Obama is a distinctive woman and as the wife of presidential candidate, Barack Obama, will make a magnificent First Lady.
Anyone who heard that speech will realize that this woman is a committed American who believes in the “dream” and believes that what this country needs to do is make that dream accessible to more and more of its citizens.
She shares that dream with her husband who will become the first African American ever to be nominated by an American political party for the presidency of this country. This is an historic moment in the history of this nation and will demonstrate once and for all that this is a very good country with a plentiful supply of flaws, but a basic soundness and faithfulness to its democratic principles.
Michelle Obama is a winner in every aspect of that word, and if America does the right thing in November, this country will also be a winner.
The choice is simple, either turn this terribly distressed nation in the right direction as over 80% of the people want the next administration to do or stick all of us with four more years of failed foreign, economic, civil rights and environmental failures.
Following the Biblical imperative, every one who steps into the voting booth on November 4, 2008 must answer this question: “Choose you this day whom you will serve!”
