WHO ARE THE PEOPLE WHO CONTINUE TO SUPPORT JOHN MCCAIN?

AFTER EIGHT YEARS OF FISCAL, INTERNATIONAL AND SOCIAL DISASTER WHO IS IT THAT IS SUPPORTING A MAN WHO IS PROMISING MORE OF THE SAME?

JOHN MCCAIN AND SARAH PALIN KNOW THAT OBAMA IS NOT RAISING TAXES ON 95% OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE AND YET DAY AFTER DAY, THEY BOTH LIE LIKE SOCIOPATHIC MORONS. IT TRULY MAKES ME SICK.

The surge, according to McCain, was a huge success and yet the troops are not home. With 80% of the American people demanding our soldiers be brought home, how can anyone vote for a candidate who insists we must stay in Iraq until we are victorious?

The United States is shelling out $10 billion dollars a month to continue to fight the Iraq war while the Iraqi government has 79 billions of dollars in the bank and in receivables. When we must be taking care of our own colossal agenda of financial crises--the stock market, the housing market, the banking business, the insurance business, the job market and the ever increasing number of foreclosures, unemployment figures, bankruptcies, deficits, the vacillating value of the dollar and the sharp reduction in personal income in the past eight years, why would a citizens of this great land vote against his own self-interest?

While the number of casualties is down because the surge is still operational, Americans continue to die? Why? For what great cause are they dying, and most importantly why should one more drop of American blood be shed in the biggest mistake in the history of this country? Why would any American who has lived through the disastrous six years of a war without a cause, want to support as the Commander-in-Chief the war’s most zealous advocate?

Why is the United States attempting to negotiate for fifty eight (58) permanent military bases in Iraq when the Iraqi government has openly expressed its desire that all U. S. forces leave. With this nation already in a financial hole dug by a Republican president supported wholeheartedly by McCain want to cast a vote for a presidential candidate who by his own admission knows little or nothing about economics and who suggests that he would put his former senatorial colleague and the most ardent deregulator of all, Phil Gramm, as our Secretary of the Treasury?

Why does McCain still support expending $10 billion a month on a war we will never win and from which we will ever exit as winners when our nation is on the verge of bankruptcy? In light of the recent financial collapse of our whole economy due to the Republican Party’s and, in particular, John McCain’s systematic efforts to de-regulate the financial arms of our economy, why would anyone vote for the man?

Why does McCain seek to shrink the Medicare budget by $870,000 billion dollars when we all know that with the addition of the baby boomers to the Medicare rolls, the cost of that vital program will definitely escalate? Why would voters even consider voting for a man whose policies could destroy the entire healthcare system for senior citizens?

How can people cast their ballots for a party and the members of a Republican Administration that has been plagued by more corruption than at any time since the Republican Administration of Warren G. Harding?

How can honest, hard working citizens support a McCain campaign that promised to run one of the cleanest, most honorable political campaigns of all time, support the man who only forty years ago was deemed to be a hero and today has become a lying, manipulating, run of the mill politician? His craving to be president has perverted his moral compass. A burning ambition to become the most powerful man in the world has replaced his once deeply embedded desire to serve his nation with honor.

How can anyone back a man for the presidency who is part of a political party and an administration that has deprived the America people of some of their most cherished civil rights? Wiretapping without a warrant, the invasion of our privacy by investigating the books we check out of our libraries, reading our mail and emails when one is suspected of association with persons who are under surveillance by the FBI, Homeland Security, or police are a few of the violations of our civil liberties?

With health care cost escalating beyond reason, most Americans ought not to vote for a man, whose national health insurance proposal would tax the benefits we receive from our employers as if it were personal income,

While there are 47 million Americans who are without any form of health insurance results in a dramatic increase in unnecessary deaths, and illnesses that would be treated if their right to health insurance was in place. McCain’s proposed policies fall short of giving the average American the quality health care every other civilized nation in the world provides its citizens. No one should support a candidate for the presidency whose health care program does not provide universal health insurance.

Social issues such as abortion, birth control, stem cell research are matters of faith and not matters of the law, therefore, think twice about voting for John McCain who opposes abortion, birth control on the basis of law and has admitted he will nominate persons for the Supreme Court vacancies in the image of Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas. These two men are right wing Neanderthals who believe in the constructionist theory of law, i.e. that the law should be interpreted as it was written without taking into account our ever changing world and the knowledge that has evolved in the light of the 21st century.

America is looked upon by the other nations as having lost its way because of the foreign policy of the Bush Administration. Today, Bush is the most hated leader in the world and our nation is perceived as a power hungry country that thrives on war and has become the “arms dealer to the world.” We are no longer held in high regard by many other nations and in some cases we are considered to be the enemy of freedom and liberty. McCain supports Bush’s foreign policy tenets and demands that before he will negotiate with hostile nations they must come up to our standards and agree with our perceptions of the world. For example, he would refuse to meet with Iranian leaders although in recent months even the Bush Administration has begun low level talks. He would not recognize nor converse with Hamas, even though the only way to bring peace to the Middle East is for the U. S. to begin to intervene in the stalemate that exists between Hamas and Israel.

People who support McCain are in fact voting to continue the same failed foreign policy Bush has pursued for the last eight years.

Because of the failures of the past eight years, I find it difficult to comprehend why anyone with an educated understanding of what has gotten us into the financial rut where we presently reside. Why would anyone vote for a man who has sided with George W. Bush 90% of the time?

I am perplexed when one looks at the hundreds of key Republican leaders who are abandoning the McCain candidacy that some of the average conservative voters still remains Republican stalwarts. Colin Powell, Chris Buckley, the son of William F Buckley, Jr., the granddaughters of Republican President,  Dwight Eisenhower, and Senator Barry Goldwater, several members of the Bush White House staff including the press secretary, Scott McClellan, twenty five Generals and Admirals who were proud to stand behind Barack Obama during his acceptance speech to 80,000 people.

People who have voted Republican all of their lives are crossing the aisle, some because of McCain’s disastrous campaign, some because McCain has endorsed the failed policies of the president who has the lowest approval rating in history and others because of his dreadfully misguided selection of Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska.

Barack Obama has promised a tax cut for anyone making less than $250,000, i.e. 95% of the American people. Middle class America is earning $2,000 less now than when Bush first step into the White House, but those above $250,000 in income are making tens of thousands more today than they were in 2001. The moment that John McCain heard that Obama told Joe the Plumber that he wanted to redistribute the income by making our tax structure fairer, John McCain and Sarah Palin jumped on it and called Barack a Socialist. McCain and Palin either know that tax cuts are not socialistic or they are both totally ignorant about economics.

Barbara West, a television reporter at a Fox station in Orlando, FL went so far as to imply that Obama was a Communist. The bleached blonde reporter from Orlando is giving blondes a bad name by exposing her ignorance on national TV.

All that Obama is attempting to do is give this country crucial middle class a tax cut. It is only the deceitful minds of McCain, Palin and the Republican handlers who are trying again to strike fear in the hearts of the average man and woman on the street that a tax cut for them is evil. They have tried calling Obama a “celebrity,” “a Muslim,” “a terrorist,” and now “a Socialist,” and now “a Communist.”  This is just another example of McCain ongoing effort to smear, denigrate and, if possible, destroy Obama’s chances of winning on November 4, 2008. But we will not be fooled. Lies will not work this time. The American people are too smart to swallow a wheelbarrow full of crap.

Many feel that McCain has run one of the most incompetent campaigns the Republican Party has seen in decades. If he can not run a campaign and he selects a Vice Presidential running mate after only two meetings he obviously will be unable to run the nation.

Certainly, while the Arizona Senator has refused to fully release his medical records, everyone knows he has suffered from six (6) bouts of cancer which ultimately leads to death. He is 72 years old and since I am not far behind him in age, I can tell you from personal experience, 72 is old.

His personal life also causes me great concern. His first wife was dying from cancer when he asked her for a divorce so that he could marry a woman who was the heiress to a $100 million dollar fortune. That is a matter of character that underwhelms me and gives me pause to wonder if there are not other character flaws that could very well cause him to make serious ethical blunders.

I look at the faces of those who stand behind McCain during his campaign speeches and I wonder why? I wonder how? In the light of all that has happened over the past eight years—Iraq, the unfinished job in Afghanistan, the deficit, tax cut for the rich, gas prices through the roof, Katrina, Sarah Palin, and on and on and on, how can anyone with an eye dropper full of common sense would vote for John McCain?
