A Questionable Apology
Reverend Pat Robertson apologized to Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon for saying he was struck down because he withdrew the Israeli settlers from the Gaza strip. I am puzzled as to why he should apologize. It's surely not the Reverend's fault if God strikes people down because of the Reverend's petty political animus. The Reverend cannot help his malicious nature, and his desire to harm those who do not march in lock-step with the way the Reverend thinks they should behave. It is, instead, God's fault for letting himself be guided according to the Reverend's wishes. (The Lord is capable of independent thinking. Just recently, Reverend Robertson called for Dover, Pennsylvania to be visited by an act of God because he was displeased with the way they voted in a school board election...and the Lord, at least so far, has seen fit to stay His hand.)
The Reverend has nothing to apologize for. He is as the Lord made him. The Lord, though, should really get some better advisors.
