Samuel Alito, Injustice of the Supreme Court

I never thought for a moment that Judge Samuel Alito is a bigot.  That would do him an injustice almost the equal of that which he hands out on a regular basis.  And it greatly understates his misanthropy.  He simply and deeply distrusts all those who do not possess governmental power and authority...and he feels an even deeper sympathy for those who possess governmental power, or have the werewithal to influence government.  In nearly every case he has decided, the result he came to could be predicted by asking, which side is seeking the remedy which will bring us closer to an authoritarian state?

His idea of Justice may or may not wear a blindfold, but she surely wears jackboots.

Hey, ho, Judge Alito has got to go.

I am disgusted by the incredibly poor job the Democrats did of making the case against Judge Alito.  Yes, he will vote to overrule Roe v. Wade.  But it's considerably more important that he'll vote to eviscerate the Bill of Rights.  A judge cannot support dramatic expansion of the power of the Presidency and the machinery of government without correspondingly cutting into the rights of everybody else.  This guy is not just a right-winger like Justices Scalia and Thomas.  Justice Scalia occasionally cares about someone's civil rights.  Don't look for that concern from a Justice Alito.

The Democrats should filibuster this guy; but apparently, they're going to wimp out.  Even if there wasn't his judicial record to reckon with, they should vote him down for not answering the questions.  Supreme Court nomination hearings go through phases; sometimes they will let a Supreme Court nominee get away with anything, and at other times they expect him to honestly answer questions.  It is always a bad idea when the Senate decides that evasion, dishonesty, and deceit are the necessary qualifications of a Supreme Court judge.

There's an old saying the Democratic Senators should be mindful of:  If you don't stand for something, you'll stand for anything.
