Tarkio-Tristan and Iseult  Tarkio was Colin Meloy's college band, before he went on to bigger and better things with the Decemberists.  This mellow, slightly country-tinged tune will come as no surprise to his fans, but will be welcomed by other ignorant savages.

The President's Party Line on Wiretapping

The argument that wiretapping Americans is legal is that the authorization of use of force against terrorists by Congress allowed it.  So let me get this straight:  We're supposed to believe wiretapping is such a violent intrusion into our civil rights it is akin to shootings, bombings, and assassination...the acts contemplated under the use of force.  We're also supposed to believe wiretapping despite being a horrifically violent act, it is also something that should be cool with the 99.9% of those wiretapped who prove to have done nothing wrong, and to have had no contact with anyone who's done anything wrong.  There's a word for the ability to hold two completely opposite beliefs at the same time.  Now...what is it, what is it?

Oh, yeah.  It's insanity.
