Elliot Smith-No Name #6  This is a relatively obscure song by the immortal Elliot Smith.  I mean immortal in the figurative sense, of course.  This song was put out on a single by the beautiful people at the unfortunately named Suicide Squeeze Records.  I mean beautiful figuratively, too, as I've never laid eyes on any of them.

Bush Saving Democratic Senator in New Jersey

Political heir New Jersey Republican state Senator Tom Kean Jr. is back to trailing in the polls for the US Senator against appointed Senator Robert Menendez.  As a state Senator, Kean was aggressive in pushing for campaign finance reform, pushing for a bill where any company which donated more than $400 to political candidates could not do business with the state.  He's already proved to be a gifted campaigner, and an attractive candidate.  But he's dropped from a seven point lead to a three point deficit in the last month.  That, despite Kean having higher approval ratings and lower disapproval ratings than the Democratic Senator.  The President is playing a pretty major part in dragging Kean down, but more than that, it reflects the distaste of New Jersey voters for basically the whole Republican agenda.  If Kean can't win in New Jersey, then no Republican can.
