Good Riddance to Bad Rubbish

Senator Joseph Lieberman is about to get crushed in a Democratic primary, and I'm happy.

I am not normally in the habit of celebrating the defeat of Democratic incumbents.  But in 1968, Joseph Lieberman supported Bobby Kennedy when he was challenging Lyndon Johnson because of the Vietnam War.  That Joseph Lieberman wouldn't have had any use for this Senator Lieberman, who has suggested criticism of the war is somehow unpatriotic.  He would've voted for Ned Lamont.  And that Joseph Lieberman wouldn't have disrespected the voters by running for his party's nomination, all the while plotting a third party run if, and when, he is defeated.

I'm for the Lieberman who believed in the Democratic project--and the democratic project.  I have no use for Senator Lieberman, who's lost in the Beltway, and lost to common decency.  His defeat will be a Good Thing.

And Representative Cynthia McKinney is also trailing badly.  This is the woman who assaulted House security.  She regularly espouses vile conspiracy theories, such as that the Bush administration knew about 9/11 in advance, and deliberately did nothing about it.  She is a poisonous figure in politics.  Her defeat will be a Very Good Thing.
