The Puppy Hater, and the Guy with the Racially Insensitive Behavior

Michael Steele, the Republican candidate for the US Senate in Maryland, ran an ad that said Democrats will probably say he hates puppies.  He claims he loves puppies.  But you've got to think a candidate wouldn't bring up puppies at all unless there was some truth to his hatred of puppies.  He's just trying to preempt a legitimate avenue of attack.

In the previous poll in Maryland, Steele only trailed by 3%.  He's now behind 11%.  Obviously, Maryland voters also suspect the truth:  Michael Steele hates puppies, the puppy hater.

And in recent news, Senator George Allen answered a charge from a college classmate that Allen used racial slurs in college.  Sen. Allen said he didn't use racial slurs then.

So it's a new thing?

Maybe he picked the habit up in the Senate.

And then, last week Sen. Allen said the reason his mother didn't tell him she was born Jewish is because she was afraid he wouldn't love her anymore.

What does that say about the Senator?

Quote for the Day, 9/25/2006

"Have you ever noticed that there are just two types of opera?  There are tragedies, where everybody dies, and comedies, where everyone gets married."

"So...you could say they’re all tragedies."
