Hello, its me, the mortified moron...
Looking thru my notes from the past week in preparation for another project I'm working on this weekend, I was horrified to see that a poem I wrote and posted last Saturday had 2 huge flaws: First, it was titled exactly the same as a poem by Maya Stein that I received from her the previous Tuesday. Secondly, on rereading the 2 pieces tonight, I decided it was way too much alike in tone and subject matter. I have deleted it from the Saturday posting. I've emailed Maya and apologized for the similarity and have offered to post her beautiful piece here. And I'll encourage everyone right now to visit her site, linked on the left in my regular reads.
So how did this happen? Who knows, all I can say is that it totally was not intentional. My best excuse is the combination of sun and sangria, prior to posting Saturday. That, and I am clearly an idiot. I have to guess that Maya's poem took hold somewhere deep inside of me and made an impact. Trust me, I don't try to imitate or emulate anyone...any similarity to actual poetry is a complete accident.
So, Maya, if you're reading this, I publicly accept whatever comment you have to offer, and am deserving. I'm sorry and it won't happen again. And now, I am off to read back thru my many other posts and make sure this was the first and only time I did anything like this. I am mortified and embarrassed.
