Weekly Update: Flickr Favorites

It is time for the second installment of Slight Clutter's Flickr Favorites.   This week's decision making process was difficult to say the least.  There are so many fine photographers on Flickr with such vast ranges of photographic expertise.  For example, how do I compare the work of a photo-journalist to that of a portrait photographer?  Sure, if I were schooled in photography, I might be able to compare the two types of photos on technical merit - but schooled, I am not.  So my choices for Flickr Favorites are viscerally-driven.  This week's batch of photos are particularly upbeat as that happens to be what resonates with me at the moment.  I hope you enjoy them.

Most Whimsical

  "IMGPO818" by Eviltwin.

                                                                    Protected by Creative Commons Agreement.

I chose this photo because of the almost cathartic reaction that I had to seeing it.  The little girl, the balloon, the sunset colors, something about floating away - I found it all to be very poetic.  This photo will surely serve as an elixir when spirits are low.

Most Adorable

  "Simba" by DRP.

                                                                    Protected by Creative Commons Agreement.

I chose this photo because there seems to be a universality to the "deer in the headlights" posture that this boy displays in his moment of nervousness.   He stands paralyzed with his painted-on Simba face and just commands my "awwwwwwww" response.    This photo comes out much better in its larger form; I recommend viewing it in all its glory by clicking the "Simba" link.

Most Humorous

  "The Second Round" by Behind-Eyes.

                                                Protected by Creative Commons Agreement.

I chose this photo because I envision this cat, Hal, auditioning for the role of "Screaming Victim" in some second-rate horror flick.  A very comical photo in my book!

Most Doggielicious

"Let Me In" by Paul Watson.

                                                Protected by Creative Commons Agreement.

I chose this photo of "Muffin" because of the absolutely, positively, undeniably "cute doggie" factor.  Additionally, I found the caption detailing the story behind the photo to be rich with humor, something that is always welcomed in my world.   Click on the "Let Me In" link to see what I mean.

Honorable Mentions - Just missed by a nose!

"Samurai 2" by Velvet G. (Most Animated Non-Animate Object)

"My Father" a series of eight photos by Mrpiink (Most Touching - Literally made me cry.)

"Untitled" by Heavenuphere (Most Dreamy)

"Shirt Two" by Kren (Most Likely to Become an Album Cover)

Slight Clutter's Flickr Photos  - This week there is a tie for favorite among my photos, as chosen by the people at Flickr.   The first favorite, "Pushka Bear in Black and White" is a photo of my beautiful and soulful feline friend.  Pushka is an easy capture because she is a natural before the camera.  Attention is like a drug to her, so she's always ready to strike a pose.

The second favorite, "Sunset Flight" is a photo that I took this past Monday in Galveston as part of the Same Day - Same Sun project at Flickr.  I was hoping for this type of a "lone flyer" shot.  It took awhile, but I finally got it.
