We could stop the increase in atmospheric carbon loading by putting photovoltaics on every roof, and batteries in every basement.  But it would cost a lot, and many people wouldn't like it.

So we'll have palm trees growing around what was the "frozen tundra" of Lambeau Field in Green Bay, and azaleas blooming in January in Thunder Bay, Ontario, because we didn't want to spend the money, and too many people were uncomfortable with the technical fix.
