Where have you BEEN?!?

Okay, okay. I didn't actually intend to drop off the face of the earth...but I suppose I've taken a longer break than was actually necessary. But I know you all have lives and things like that, and don't spend your whole day pressing 'refresh' or 'reload' on this page. Nope, no one would do that.

Just my parents.

It's been an eventful couple weeks, though, and let me think -- what's happened? This seems like a great time for some bullet points:

  • I got a job! A job writing, no less! I'd tell you more, but then I'd have to kill you...
  • I got a fairly decent tan, thank you very much (this was prior to getting the job, during an unseasonably sunny few days in Wetcouver)! See below...

  • I smashed off one of my toenails in a grisly incident involving an office chair, a pair of flip flops, and a measure of blood. Fortunately, it matched my polish at the time! I just try not to look at that toe anymore, and I find I can forget about it. Hell, it worked with my ass!
  • Notable eating moments: salmon sashimi; chocolate-covered strawberries; a bee (well, I more licked him, he flew back out of my mouth); the best loaf of sourdough bread EVER; nearly the best latte ever; absolutely the worst hamburger ever; and several burnt popcorn kernels (I know, I know, they break your teeth. I can't seem to stop!).
  • I went to bed once before 10 pm, which was both notable and shocking, and also entirely unsuccessful. It doesn't seem to matter how early I have to rise, my body wants to stay conscious until at least 1 am.
  • I bought a travel mug, to go with my new job. It's very trendy, kind of techno/sporty looking. I feel like a geek when I drink from it, though, because it looks like I'm trying a bit hard. Fortunately, the blank expression on my face puts that assumption to rest pretty darn quickly.
  • I chipped my tooth again. But this time, on a lamp, not a karaoke microphone. Long story. But an enlightening one.
  • I sent a gazillion emails and made a plethora of phone calls, mostly to the same poor victims.
  • I took pictures of a raccoon eating bananas.
  • I went to a very excellent baby dedication for a very excellent baby. And made that same excellent baby giggle VERY hard in the weeks previous to said dedication. She, however, kept it together for her big moment. Yay for the cutest Janzens that ever were!
  • I got two new roommates: Itchy and Ouchy.

Yes, it was an eventful time. And now I have to get my eventful self to bed. I'm a member of the scheduled workforce now, and can no longer keep my freewheelin' freelance hours.

For now.
