nice day to be me.

There is something about lying in the grass, flip flops off, good book in hand...it's summer! And this was my view...definitely nothing like a cubicle. The thankfulness continues unabated...

cool things I don't usually get to do.

Okay, if you've read much of my blog at all, you'd know I'm an absolute fanatic for kids.

Small ones, especially (though I appreciate the men-in-their-thirties variety, too).

This baby's mom marvels at how much I talk about her kid on the 'net, but really, look at this child. I don't get to see her too often, but she is pretty much one of the only babies I know right now, so it's always a treat when I do. Since her very lovely, very cool mom and dad are, to quote Zoolander, ridiculously good-looking, it's not much of a shock that her cuteness is overflowing. Lor and Or-- way to hand off some sweet genes, and a sweet disposition!

I have very small hands, but they look huge here, compared to hers. It felt like an honour to get to feed her, and I have to thank my benevolent and generous roommate Kerry (who is the actual babysitter tonight) for giving me the most peaceful, sweet moment in my day. I mean, hanging out with Ker and Kris is peaceful and sweet as well, but they don't let me rock them to sleep anymore.

Sure, I gush on and on. And I'm usually a little more known for cynicism and quirks than I am for falling in love with munchkins (save for that one incident in Oz, but then I had to go and click my heels...). But come on --

The best moments in life are the little ones. And so are the best people.

Okay, granted.

This IS three and a half hours later than I usually get up. But why...WHY...when it's finally possible to do so, does my stupid body NOT want to sleep in?

Such are the mysteries of life. Other mysteries include:

  • The appeal of Jon Secada
  • Why bulbs always burn out at the wrong times
  • Why some people think Bob Saget is funny, and some people think Strong Bad is funny.
  • How hairstylists can smell fear
  • Why spiders run TOWARDS you

Yeah.

Ten True Things.

10. Getting angry at someone you love isn't the end of the world.

9. If water is not splashed willy-nilly on the countertop, you have not truly washed your face.

8. How you roast your marshmallow says more about your character than you realize.

7. Cats aren't really evil, they're just not forthcoming.

6. Everyone snores at some point. Even supermodels.

5. Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, get a nice break from him on the weekends.

4. Pasta + White Shirt + Meg = Pollock painting.

3. I don't like it when people see me: cry, throw up, try on jeans, check my email, or do math with my fingers.

2. The less money I have, the easier it is to spend.

1. My blog readers are the best damn readers in blogland.

Bonus: People who use the term 'willy-nilly' are the luckiest people in the world.

I just wanted to establish a few things, is all.
