Blogcabin
It ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe
If you don't know by now
An' it ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe
It don't matter anyhow

yeah, well...i don't like mimes, either.

Oh, so you think that's funny, do you, Mike?

For those of you who are blog-a-holics (a.k.a fervent readers of multiple blogs), the concept of the meme won't be new to you. For those of you that just read my blog because of the monthly cheques I send you (that's right, I'm a Canadian...CHEQUES), you might not quite fathom that of which I am about to speak. For you, I have included the Wikipedia link above, so that you too will be able to feel blogfashionable.

I tend to lack meme-age in my blog, mostly because I don't write about anything of great import, and no one 'tags' me with them. I mean, if you have a meme you like, why would you send it to Meg? She'll just circumvent the whole deal, rant about it a bit, and then neglect to continue the weird intellectual virus, anyhow.

At least that's what I've done in the past. But strangely, this meme appeals to me a little, because of the subject matter. Now, I'm smart enough to realize that the people perpetuating this particular blogSARS don't really care about my answers to the questions -- they just want the free link back to their blogs.

I understand this...I get the 'hit hunger', too, but I've come to realize that I am never going to be a 300 or 400 or 5,000 hit blogger. I just meander about the 150-200 range, pleased with my mediocrity, and the fact that I only sent out 125 of the aforementioned cheques to guarantee readership. That would leave me 25-75 actual readers (two of which are my parents, five of which are accidental hits from Salon Blog Rankings when someone had a fidgety mouse hand, ten of which are someone's cat walking on a keyboard, six of which are the FBI checking (not chequing) up on me again...you get the idea).

But I digress. You want the damn MEEM, well...here.

Ye Olde Meme

Name 5 things you miss most about your childhood:

1.  Sharing popsicles with Neil and Margie, when wanting to split the same flavour meant you would be married one day.

2. Wearing these insanely beautiful dresses my mom would sew, with layers of lovely fabric -- classy dresses, not fussy ones. And having my dark hair fall almost all the way down my back in rag-curls.

3.  Watching late night talk shows from the landing, where I could peer down into the darkened living room at my parents, already a little insomniac at 6 or 7. Johnny Carson...not Dave, yet.

4. Cannon Beach, Oregon, every summer. Haystack Rock and Bruce's Candy Kitchen. Clam chowder at Morris' Fireside. Bowls of lemon drops covered in ants because we left them alone in the cabin all day long.

5.  Long drives to Vancouver to visit grandparents, where we'd sing along with Willie Nelson to something old and beautiful, the sound of which still brings me incredible peace:

Sometimes I wonder why I spend
The lonely nights
Dreaming of a song
That melody haunts my reverie
And I am once again with you
When our love was new
And each kiss an inspiration
Ah, but that was long ago
Now my consolation
Is in the stardust of a song...

Chaos Theory

Ultrablog

Snidget

Chew Toys

The rules:

Remove the #1 item from the above list, bump everyone up one place and add your blog's name in the #5 spot. You need to actually link to each of the blogs for the link-whorage aspect of this fiendish meme to kick in.

Three people to pass it on to (and I'll leave this for them to discover they've been tagged, and see if they ever notice!):

The Divine Dick Jones

The Hermit's Bid

Perils of Caffeine

Well, there you have it, Mememonkeys. I did as I was told. Take time to consider how you would answer these questions, and feel free to do so in the comments...unless I tagged you above!
