It ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe
If you don't know by now
An' it ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe
It don't matter anyhow

where did she go?

Well, for one day, right here.

Chuck, one of my favourite Salon bloggers of all time, needed a bit of a break, and asked some of us to help out by taking over his blog for a month. Now, with my entry on the first day of sub-bloggers, I mostly just made fun of myself, but I figured that was the most accurate representation of what I do here, anyhow. Go check out my guest blog over at his place, AND check out Chuck's writing below it (it's much better than mine, you can't miss it!).

The Ballad of The Great Crash of 2005

From coast to coast
And sea to sea
A band of merry bloggers were we

Full of opinions
And political jokes
We grabbed our eggs by the yolks

We never dreamed
We never thought
That our sweet efforts would be for nought

For the day it crashed
The day it died
Was a fateful dagger in our sides

We clutched our heads
And mourned the loss
And emailed every moderator and boss

'Why did Radio die?'
The call went out
And a thousand bloggers began to pout

Couldn't comment
Couldn't access a folder
The winds of frustration blew a bit colder

We wrote one another
In solidarity
We band of bloggers, we merry....uh, we.

We pressed refresh
And clicked in vain
Typing aimless Word documents to alleviate the pain

We left our homes
With longing looks back
For the Salon community, the day was black

And the poor blog widows
And kids of blogging folks
Were stuck listening to usually blog-able jokes

They too hoped Radio
Would come back from the dead
So their blogger would stop nattering and go to bed

And then the moment came
When all seemed lost
And we were all questioning the RU costs

Suddenly it was back
And we posted in a flurry
Pictures, anecdotes, all in a hurry

And once we were done
We checked on the others
Our blogging buddies, our sisters and brothers

Some claimed not to notice
But we know full well
A weekend without Radio is Salon blogger hell

So here's to the return
Of the server we need
And the continuation of a thousand RSS feeds.

Hey nonny nonny
Hey fiddle doo
I'm a blogger, and yes -- so are you!

Yes, I know I'm a huge dork. What of it?

i broke radio userland

and

today's ad for sunscreen.

Let's just say that I think I've finally learned my lesson. I don't want to look...say...62 next year. And I didn't really break Radio...I just bent it a little.

edit: I think my nose is getting bigger. Can you tell I broke it three times?
