friday night.
I've tried to write six different entries.
Nothing is coming out properly.
That's what happens sometimes -- I write all week, every day of the week, all day long, and then it just... disappears. I can't manage to shape words that reflect what is going on inside of me.
It's not for lack of ideas, but simply for lack of skill to sort them all out.
And I know it won't last -- something always bubbles to the surface eventually. But I sense that tonight is not my night.
I'm tired. I'm overwhelmed. I'm weakened by insomnia and injuries. I'm trying to sort out plans and obligations and responsibilities without giving short shrift to my dreams. I'm trying to make sense of change.
My eyes are closing.
I'm thankful that I have the opportunity to share my thoughts and hopes with such a supportive community. I am thankful that you laugh at my jokes. I am delighted to read your words and walk through your ideas and see your lives from here. You have no idea how wise and lovely you are.
Even when I am spare and scattered and unsure, I know that you receive my rambling.
Thank you for your example. Thank you for your challenge. And thank you for understanding when I have nothing to give at all.
It's Friday night and I am Friday tired. And that's just about all I have to say.
Love to all.

Once, a friend and I took a video camera to a farm for a school project.
I lay down in a pile of hay and he filmed baby chickens running all over me as though they were attacking me.
That's comedy gold right there.
But.
One of the baby chickens settled on my forehead for some reason, folded their wee legs beneath them, and nestled right down. And proceeded to remain there for five minutes. We were bewildered by this.
So I instructed my friend to zoom in very closely on my forehead, and then I spoke:
"Man, I cannot get chicks off my mind."
