hey! This morning, I woke up, rolled out of bed, and stuck my head out the window to check on the weather.
It was raining. This was no shock. I mean, I live in Vancouver, and I'd heard the downpour on and off all night in between dreams of goldfish and parasols.
As I stood there for a moment, breathing in the cedar-scented air (with a hint of almond from the bakeries nearby), it began to rain harder.
"Hey!" I said aloud, thinking of how unreliable my umbrella had proven to be as of late, thinking of frizzy hair, thinking of wet feet. "Enough!"
But just as soon as those words came from my lips, then it really started to come down.
I stood there for a moment, considering this, and then said, quietly: "Sorry."
And then it eased off. Huh.
"Temperamental clouds!" I said, shaking a fist at the sky.
And then the heavens opened up like Niagara Falls.
I cringed, and went to take a shower.
