in springtime, a young girl's fancy turns to just about everything. So.
It's springtime.
The sun even comes out occasionally. And the world is slowly, surely coming alive.
Birds are singing! Buds are blooming! Grass is growing!
People (well, people who do such things... ) are stocking up on things in pretty, pretty colours that aren't made of wool or Gore-tex! People are buying up bottles of self-tanner to reduce the glare of the skin they are exposing to the world after months of obscurity! People are putting on giant sunglasses that make them look like flies!
It's a fabulous time of year.
And while I'd like to buy endless rounds of flirty skirts and espadrilles and mules and sandals and lovely little bags and earrings to tie it all together and lipgloss in the right shade of pink and a great haircut with a few caramel highlights and... well, all that's just beside the point! When I sell my first novel, I'll pull out all those particular stops (oh, crap... does that mean I'd actually have to write a novel?)
Until then, however, I'm going for spring on the INSIDE! I'm taking time to dance around like an idiot more often, and to discover new music thaat makes my ears happy, and to eat lots of fruit to get that vitamin C glow going on, and maybe even to rest a bit more so that I don't wake up feeling like a polar bear that missed out on hibernation
I gotta wake up and let a little light into my mole-blinky eyes.
And I want flowers everywhere! And to smell like mango and vanilla and coconut! And to sit outside and feel the warmth on my face! And to go to the beach more often! And to walk barefoot on the grass!
I guess I'm craving springtime experiences more than springtime acoutrements.
(which works well with my budget!)
It's a good time of year to freshen up every little thing you can get your hands on.
I guess that's why my web-site-in-progress has a lime at the top. I'm just looking for a little zest, really.
(oh, and also how to mirror my blog to the lovely thing... which is something you should tell me, if you know how...)
Now to go to sleep and dream of pink shoes.
And bowls of strawberries.
And blue skies.
And, of course, coffee.
Because that is a love for all seasons.
